The fifth edition of BEDS took place in Kaunas from October 16 to 24, 2025, as a collateral event of the Kaunas Biennial.
Bringing together seven international artists — Lucia Bricco, Iulia Ghiță, Antti-Juhani Manninen, Yaryna Shumska, EglÄ— ŠimÄ—naitÄ—, Antti Turkko, and TuÄŸba Varol — this edition continued to explore BEDS as a shared artistic organism, where individual practices converged into a collective yet non-hierarchical structure.
In Kaunas, the project deepened its investigation into the relationship between performance and installation, expanding a language that had been gradually shaped through previous editions. Each work maintained its autonomy while contributing to a broader, interconnected narrative, where presence, action, and space continuously influenced one another.
The thematic direction of this edition addressed the relationships of closeness between absolute and relative vision, between impossibility and perfection, and also between the real and the false — a proximity that did not arise by mistake, but out of expressive necessity: the quest for identity, self-exposure, the public gesture.
The dramaturgy moved between momentary events and social interaction, generating continuity.
BEDS.Kaunas was supported by the Italian Embassy and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Vilnius.
In collaboration with Kaunas Biennial, Gallery “MuitinÄ—” (Vilnius Academy of Arts, Kaunas Faculty), Kaunas Artists’ House, and Password_1 Galerija.
